About our program

There are two types of learning program. It was divided to language and literacy

Each module is 20 hours with 20 lessons of coursework.
There are 3 coursework each level.

Each level has 20 lessons and takes 20 hours of classes. 

Our teacher available from Monday-Sunday. We can teach from 7:30am-21:30pm (Cambodia Time)

  • Private 1-1 Class: You can learn the Khmer language as per our existing course syllabus at your own pace, or additionally, we can customize lessons to suit your specific needs and interests. Student will learn one on one with native Khmer teachers via zoom.
  • For private class cost $160, student will learn one on one and the schedule is flexible depend on their convenience.  
  • Price for group class if the student register for the team

  • Group class: There are typically 2 to 4 students per class. This environment provides a great opportunity to make new connections, meet more international friends, and overcome homesickness and the language barrier together. For group class cost $95,  the schedule is depend on form.

 1.     Basic Khmer language (60 hours)

We have A1= 20 hours, A2= 20 hours, and A3 = 20 hours

After completed this level, students can understand and use every day familiar expression and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type. Moreover, students not only can introduce him/herself and others, but also can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where (he/she) lives, people (he/she) knows and thing (he/she) has. Beside this, students be able interact in a simple way provided the other person talk slowly and clearly and is prepared to help. Lastly, students be able to make clear sound.

2.     Elementary  Khmer language (60 hours)

We have B1= 20 hours, B2= 20 hours, and B3 = 20 hours

    Students can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment). Moreover, students can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of in information on familiar and routine matters. For this level, it also helps students to describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need. Lastly, students will be able to create more sentences and some basic grammar (conjunction, linker, aspect, ).

3.     Intermediate  Khmer language (60 hours)

We have C1= 20 hours, C2= 20 hours, and C3 = 20 hours

Learning this level, students will be able to understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. They can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken. Also, they can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest. Additionally, students can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes & ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans. We will provide Khmer alphabet in this level; students have option to learn or not depend on their need.

4.     Upper Khmer language (60 hours)

We have D1= 20 hours, D2= 20 hours, and D3 = 20 hours

For this level, students can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialization. Students not only be able to interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party, but also produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

5.     Advanced  Khmer language (60 hours)

We have E1= 20 hours, E2= 20 hours, and E3 = 20 hours

For this learning level, students can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. They can produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing a controlled use of organizational patterns, connector and cohesive devices. Moreover, students will be able to learn on other social section (Health care, Religion, Environment, social issue, business. Sleng communication. Students will be required to do research on interest topic.

   PRONUCIATION AND LISTENING

    Khmer Pronunciation and Listening are important skills which we teach our students. Pronunciation is key to being understood while speaking second language. In every single class, we focus on some aspect of pronunciation and how the sound is vocalized. You will learn to correct way to pronunciation using short sentences. Knowing the correct pronunciation will help you to hear the sound that you have not heard before until now. Your listening skill also improve at the same time. LKL use the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) as a framework to assist teaching and learning of these sound. We used this IPA to support student until they finish level B3. 


There are 3 level of Literacy

Basic Literacy requires students to completed level A in speaking and listening. If students used to study literately or Khmer language before, we recommend to do placement test before they start their class in order to have equivalent of LKL. 



Level of Khmer literacy (Reading Skill)

Phonological Awareness: Phonological awareness skills involve manipulation sounds: blending sounds, segmenting sounds, adding suns, deleting sounds and substituting sounds.

        A1 = Consonants, Vowels and Sight words

        A2 = Review, Independent vowels and Sight words

    Phonics: A method of teaching people to read by correlating sounds with symbols in an alphabetic writing system.

  • B1 = Reading rule and sight words

    B2 = Cluster consonants and sight words

Intermediate Literacy

    Fluency: Fluency is the ability to read a text accurately, quickly, and with expression. Fluent

reading builds stamina for reading lengthy or complex texts.

         C1 = 20 Lessons = Read a paragraph

         C2 = 20 Lessons = Read a passage

         
C3 = 10 Lessons = Reading text and self learning introduce by tutors.

Vocabulary: Reading vocabulary refers to the words that a student can read and understand. When students know more words, they are more able to understand what they read. There is a strong connection between understanding the meaning of words and understanding a story, textbook or other reading materials.

Disciplinary Literacy

Comprehension: Reading comprehension is the ability to read text, process it and understand its meaning. It relies on two, interconnected abilities: word reading (being able to decode the symbols on the page) and language comprehension (being able to understand the meaning of the words and sentences).
